Date templates
How to create and apply date templates in Tract — predefined sets of milestones you can apply to new deals in one step instead of adding each event manually.
What date templates are
Section titled “What date templates are”Date templates are predefined sets of events that you can apply to a new deal in one step. Instead of manually adding the same milestones — inspection, appraisal, walkthrough, closing — every time you start a transaction, a template adds them all at once with the correct names already filled in.
Templates save time when you’re working on multiple similar transactions and want a consistent set of milestones across every deal without building the timeline from scratch each time.
Creating a date template
Section titled “Creating a date template”- Click account then settings

- Add the events you want included in the template — name each one clearly
- Save
Applying a template to a deal
Section titled “Applying a template to a deal”- Open the deal you want to apply the template to
- Click the Activity tab
- In the Timeline section click Add
- Select Use a Template option at the top of the popup
- Choose the template from your saved templates
- Enter dates for the events
- Click Load Dates
A note - If deals already have existing dates, Tract will ask if you want to override those dates or keep them in addition to the template dates.
Editing a template
Section titled “Editing a template”- Click account then settings
- Select Date Templates
- Hover over the template you want to edit to expose an edit icon
- Make the changes
- Click Save Template
Editing a template does not update deals that have already had the template applied — changes only affect future applications.
Deleting a template
Section titled “Deleting a template”Deleting a template follows the same process as editing a template except the hover will expose a delete icon that will be used. Click the delete icon and the template will be deleted.
Tips for getting the most out of templates
Section titled “Tips for getting the most out of templates”Build templates around your most common transaction types first — a standard buyer purchase template and a standard listing template will cover the majority of your deals. Add more specific templates over time as patterns emerge in your workflow.
