Deleting files and folders
How deleting works in Tract — including how single files and folders are handled differently, how the 30-day archive window works, and how to restore something you've deleted.
Deleting a single file
Section titled “Deleting a single file”Click the three-dot menu on any file row and select Delete. Single files delete immediately with no confirmation prompt. Deleted files are moved to the Archive folder where they remain accessible for 30 days before being permanently removed.
Deleting a folder
Section titled “Deleting a folder”Click the three-dot menu on any folder and select Delete. If the folder contains files you’ll be asked to confirm before anything is deleted — review the prompt and confirm to proceed. The folder and everything inside it moves to the Archive folder and remains accessible for 30 days.
Empty folders delete immediately with no confirmation.
The Archive folder
Section titled “The Archive folder”Deleted files and folders aren’t gone immediately — they move to the Archive folder and stay there for 30 days. During that period you can restore anything you’ve deleted.
The Archive folder appears on the main Documents page automatically when it contains recently deleted items. If nothing has been deleted in the last 30 days the Archive folder won’t appear.
After 30 days archived items are permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.
Restoring a deleted item
Section titled “Restoring a deleted item”- Open the Documents page and click the Archive folder
- Find the file or folder you want to restore
- Click the three-dot menu and select Restore
- The item is moved back to its original location immediately
A note on permanent deletion
Section titled “A note on permanent deletion”Once the 30-day archive window has passed, deleted files and folders cannot be recovered. If you’re unsure about deleting something — especially a document tied to an active deal — consider moving it to a different folder rather than deleting it.
